Helen is an experienced English teacher and Head of Year in a local secondary school, with nearly twenty years’ experience in education. Alongside her classroom and leadership role, she is also a GCSE English Literature Examiner, giving her a clear and confident understanding of what examiners are looking for and how students can achieve their very best across the examination papers. As a Pastoral Leader, Helen brings a compassionate and holistic approach to her work with young people. She understands that success in English — and in school more widely — is about far more than grades alone. Building confidence, developing resilience and ensuring students feel genuinely supported are at the heart of her practice. By combining strong academic expertise with a deep commitment to student wellbeing, Helen helps learners not only achieve highly, but grow in self-belief and motivation throughout their learning journey.
Katy is a highly experienced former English teacher and both GCSE and Key Stage 2 exam marker, with nearly twenty years of dedicated work supporting students across the full range of abilities. Throughout her career, she has developed a deep understanding of how children and young people learn, combining strong subject knowledge with a compassionate, student-centred approach that helps every learner feel capable and confident. Her commitment to education now extends beyond the classroom. As a course lead at a local university, Katy plays a key role in shaping the next generation of teachers, guiding trainee professionals with insight, care and a wealth of practical experience. This dual perspective — as both an experienced practitioner and a teacher educator — allows her to bring exceptional depth, empathy and expertise to every aspect of her work with students and colleagues alike.
